Original Article

Motorized spiral enteroscopy: results of an international multicenter prospective observational clinical study in patients with normal and altered gastrointestinal anatomy

Beyna Torsten et al.

Motorized spiral enteroscopy (MSE) has been shown to be safe and effective for deep enteroscopy in studies performed at expert centers with limited numbers of patients without previous abdominal surgery. This study aimed to investigate the safety, efficacy, and learning curve associated with MSE in a real-life scenario, with the inclusion of patients after abdominal surgery and with altered anatomy.

Original Article

Efficacy of a computer-aided detection system in a fecal immunochemical test-based organized colorectal cancer screening program: a randomized controlled trial (AIFIT study)

Rondonotti Emanuele et al.

Computer-aided detection (CADe) increases adenoma detection in primary screening colonoscopy. The potential benefit of CADe in a fecal immunochemical test (FIT)-based colorectal cancer (CRC) screening program is unknown. This study assessed whether use of CADe increases the adenoma detection rate (ADR) in a FIT-based CRC screening program.

Position Statement

Expected value of artificial intelligence in gastrointestinal endoscopy: European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) Position Statement

Messmann Helmut et al.

This Position Statement from the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) defines the main outcomes of AI tasks in the setting of ESGE performance measures, anticipating minimum and desirable values that should be expected when implementing AI in our practice. It primarily focuses on the diagnosis and management of GI neoplasia, and on the possible impact on the already existing or new quality performance measures that have been defined by ESGE.
