Geriatric Nutritional Risk Index as a Prognostic Factor of Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Meta-Analysis

Geriatric nutritional risk index (GNRI), a newly developed indicator of nutritional status retrieved by serum albumin concentration and ideal body weight, has been suggested as a prognostic factor for various malignancies. The aim of the study was to summarize the prognostic role of GNRI for patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in a meta-analysis. Cohort studies evaluating the relationship between GNRI at baseline and survival OF NSCLC were retrieved by search of PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases from inception to January 12, 2022. A conservative random-effect model incorporating the possible influence of between-study heterogeneity was used to pool the results. Eleven cohorts including 2865 patients with NSCLC were included.

Homocysteine and the Mortality of Critically Ill Patients: A Meta-Analysis

Prevalence of hyperhomocysteinemia (HHcy) is high in critically ill patients. However, the association between serum homocysteine level and outcomes of the critically ill patients remains unknown. We performed a meta-analysis of cohort studies to comprehensively evaluate the above association. Relevant cohort studies were identified by search of electronic databases including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Wanfang, and CNKI from the inception of the databases to February 5, 2022. A randomized-effect model incorporating the possible between-study heterogeneity was used to pool the results.

Early Clinical, Biochemical and Radiological Features in Obese and Non-Obese Young Women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome: A Comparative Study

Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a heterogenous condition accounting for serious health complications. The present study was conducted to assess the early clinical, biochemical, and radiological features in obese, non-obese young women with PCOS as compared to non-PCOS women. The study was conducted on 120 young women (18–22 years) with 80 having features of PCOS [40 obese (BMI≥25 kg/m2) and 40 non-obese (BMI<25 kg/m2) PCOS] as cases and 40 without PCOS as controls in a rural tertiary care center of Northern India over one year (2017–2018). After enrolment of cases and control, the anthropometric measurements, early clinical symptoms, and biochemical and ultrasonographic features were compared between the groups.
