Endothelial colony-forming cells (ECFCs) are endothelial progenitor cells circulating in a limited number in peripheral blood. They can give rise to mature endothelial cells (ECs) and, with intrinsically high proliferative potency, contribute to forming new blood vessels and restoring the damaged endothelium in vivo.

The Mobile Health (mHealth) Technology for Improved Screening and Optimized Integrated Care in atrial fibrillation (AF) (mAFA-II) cluster randomized trial assessed the efficacy of an integrated care approach in improving the prognosis of AF patients. In this study, the authors provide a reanalysis of the trial outcomes using the win ratio (WR) approach.

Platelet Receptor Glycoprotein VI-Dimer Is Overexpressed in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation at High Risk of Ischemic Stroke

Platelet Receptor Glycoprotein.jpg

Atrial fibrillation (AF) increases the risk of ischemic stroke (IS). The authors hypothesized that the functional form of platelet receptor glycoprotein (GP) VI, GPVI-dimer, which binds to collagen and fibrin causing platelet activation, is overexpressed in patients with AF who have not had a stroke.
